Yes, the Zoroastrian fire-altar with two attendants would remain the usual reverse type throughout the Sasanian period (and beyond, in the many imitative coinages that followed).  But the very first Sasanian king, Ardashir I (c.222-240) showed just a fire-altar with no attendants; his son Shapur I added the attendants.

Occasionally Ahura Mazda makes a cameo appearance in the flames, as on this obol of Shapur II (309-379):

I just bought one from the indubitable Frank Robinson in his special sale, except its Khosrau and not Shapur...will post when it arrives. I have not had a Sassanian before but it represents Rome's greatest enemy over the centuries, more so than the Goths for example. The Great war in the time of Heraclius weakened both empires to such an extent that a faction of Arabs were able to topple the Sassanians and take Byzantine territories almost at will nearly 400 years after the episode of Shapur and the footstool Valerian, most were never recovered, and we still deal with the political ramifications of this today (as we all know).
