ME BOX O ARTIFACTS (GROUP PIC) PLUS DETAILS ON A CROSS(AL:P)

....here's me box o artifacts on the 'table of coins'(and other stuff) and @Al Kowsky, here's more pics and measurements of the cross you were interested in (and this is probably as good as it gets) :)...   cross weight: 61.59gms, lentgh 6.7 cent., width 5.3 cent.

ominus1, these photos aren't much better than the first group, never the less, knowing the size & weight along with the photos we can speculate about the origin & age of your cross. The central figure appears to be the Virgin Mary, & the abbreviated inscription that is partly visible helps confirm this. She is surrounded by 4 Christian saints, one in each arm of the cross. The Virgin Mary is not depicted in the usual orans posture, with arms spread out as seen on the left cross pictured below. Your cross was made in 2 separate pieces, like an enkolpion, that was broken apart & later modified by grinding off the bottom hinge & most of the top hinge & then riveted on the top & bottom to make a whole cross. The modification of your cross appears to have been done long ago. I would guess the age of your cross to be 12th-15th century, & probably made in Eastern Europe.

well thanx @Al Kowsky.you're purdy knowledgeable on these...i may use you as a reference on this piece  :D...i've had it for over 20 years and never measured or weighed it....i did ask peeps about it way back and was told it was Mother Mary and the 4 evangelist type....:)
