David Atherton Posted October 24, 2024 · Member Posted October 24, 2024 (edited) My latest addition is a deceptively rare dupondius struck for Titus Caesar under Vespasian. It's an honest example with decent eye-appeal. Titus as Caesar [Vespasian] Æ Dupondius, 12.87g Rome mint, 77-78 AD Obv: T CAESAR VESPASIANVS TR P COS VI; Head of Titus, radiate, bearded, r. Rev: CERES AVGVST; S C in field; Ceres stg. l., with corn ears and poppy and sceptre RIC 1025 (R2). BMC-. BNC 783. Acquired from Nova Marketing, September 2024. A Ceres reverse type struck in 77 or 78 for all three Flavians on the dupondii. It was part of a multi denominational agricultural series produced near the close of Vespasian's reign, perhaps commemorating or promoting some long lost imperial programme. This Titus Caesar variety is quite scarce. Missing from the BM. In hand. Thank you for looking! Edited October 24, 2024 by David Atherton 13 Quote
