They must have thought it was just too soon to call it Roma.

That's hysterical Joe! Really nothing to say after that!

There's been some discussion of this pseudo-resurrection on a Facebook group; some others here probably have seen it. I've been surprised that the main take there is how tainted the name Numismatic Fine Arts was by the Athena Fund Ponzi scheme and various other shadiness of Bruce McNall. The fund was indeed a scam and McNall was indeed a crook, but to me, all that was basically a side gig. The real heart of the company was its public auctions, and I continue to see an NFA auction provenance as THE best American pedigree past or present, period.

What other deceptive business practices will they inflict on us given this introduction?

Clearly they think their customers are fools.

Oh wait, they left off the "s" at the end, it's all good. 😛

All of this doesn’t mean they’re untrustworthy. But it doesn’t seem like a good start to me. I’ve never heard anything negative about The NumisPlace. In fact, I don’t understand why they didn’t just continue as The NumisPlace.

Well, there are only so many names to be used out there and NFA honestly is a pretty good name.  I wouldnt have used it, but I dunno.  To each their own, I suppose.  I will reserve judgement until I see them sell and deliver something.

Oh, by the way, my comment about the Instagram followers was indeed a joke 😀
I knew they were bought, but I often forget to use emojis. That said, I’m pretty sure ‘NFA’ are serious, and I’d give them a chance rather than judge them too harshly based on their name - or Instagram followers.

I've actually dealt with André before - bought my Gelon II 8 litrai piece from him and sold him a whole bunch of books. I really have nothing bad to say about him - he proved to be trustworthy and genuinly passionate about coins. His auction also contains good material with provenances, not the latest shipment from Turkey.

The original NFA always could be counted on to have great coins and art. I was able to buy 3 of my better coins from them in the ‘80’s. Visiting their office in LA was always a treat.

I won 14 AV coins from NFA/ 55 from Roma/ 12 from Tkalec. I am happy to have all of them in my albums.

My fav. coin was that awesome aureus of Alexander of Carthage in NFA catalogue.

While NFA is a curious choice of name for this new company, I bought a couple coins from him when he was listing on NumisPlace and I can say without reservation that the coins were delivered as described, well priced and shipped in a flash.   I can fully recommend them based on my actual experience, which granted, was only one transaction.

Unless anyone here has had a different experience they can share, I'd recommend not disparaging the business, his likeness, or intentions based only upon the name of the business.

Hello, has anyone else participated in the auction aswell? The prices were great for collectors and the material- as mentioned- was nice too! I got lot 3 and will write about the upcoming process of getting it here.
