Coinmaster Posted October 19, 2024 · Member Posted October 19, 2024 I can need some help with my research on coins from the civil war in 68 AD. This denarius supposed to read on the obverse: SERV GALBA IMP. But that's not what it says. You can read GALBA below the horse and perhaps SER behind the horse. But what else? It's this coin: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces244838.html (better visible on this aureus: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces244837.html). Thanks for your oppinion/suggestions! 3 Quote
shanxi Posted October 19, 2024 · Supporter Posted October 19, 2024 (edited) Could it be a "IMPERATOR" instead if "IMP" like on this: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=8666998 The letters behind the horse, before the "SER" look like "OR" and on the LEU example the "SER" would be out of flan, so possibly "SER GALBA IMPERATOR" Edited October 19, 2024 by shanxi 1 Quote

Romismatist Posted October 24, 2024 · Member Posted October 24, 2024 Aligns well with my earlier related thread on a 68 AD Galba civil war denarius from Tarraco, Spain: Quote

There is no proof of a Tarraco production. See my reaction in your topic. 👍🏻 Quote
