Coinmaster Posted September 21, 2024 · Member Posted September 21, 2024 Hi all, in the Netherlands (where I live) is a big coin hoard found of about 3.600 bronze coins from the 4th and 5th century. I've seen the coins in person and I'm looking forward to the analysis about it. This is done by dr. Liesbeth Claes from the Leiden University. To be continued! (source in Dutch) 14 1 1 Quote
Valentinian Posted September 22, 2024 · Member Posted September 22, 2024 The source says "invaluable". From the looks of the coins in the bin, that must mean "not valuable." The individual coin shown must be one of the best (Of course they would show the best.) 4 1 1 Quote
Benefactor Ancient Coin Hunter Posted September 22, 2024 · Benefactor Benefactor Posted September 22, 2024 (edited) Lovable crusties, all of them. Some will undoubtedly clean up, but not all of them. Invaluable, no. I'd say pick bin faire for $1 apiece or so until cleaned. Nothing wrong with that though. Coins are coins. History in one's hands. A find in historical context can be invaluable, even if the artifacts themselves are not particularly valuable if later put on the market. Edited September 22, 2024 by Bonshaw 2 Quote
