David Atherton Posted September 12, 2024 · Member Posted September 12, 2024 I was absolutely thrilled to have recently acquired this incredibly rare Domitianic obol from Alexandria. Only one specimen listed in asearch's database. Domitian Æ Obol, 4.17g Alexandria mint, 91-92 AD Obv: ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ ΔΟΜΙΤ ϹΕΒ ΓΕΡΜ; Head of Domitian, laureate, r. Rev: L ΙΑ; Clasped hands RPC 2668 (1 spec.). Emmett 316.11. Dattari-Savio 557. Ex eBay, August 2024. An extremely rare Alexandrian clasped hands reverse type, struck during Domitian's regnal year 11 and unique to this issue. It copies similar imperial reverse designs symbolising unity. Erroneously, Emmett lists the type for regnal year 10. RPC online cites 2 specimens, neither of which are die matches. In hand. Please share your 'hand' coins, or anything you feel is relevant. Thank you for looking! 10 Quote
