Victrix Posted September 1, 2024 · Member Posted September 1, 2024 I got this ‘amulet’ many years ago and it’s possible it’s not authentic. If anyone has some more info I’d appreciate it! 😀 1 Quote
Benefactor DonnaML Posted September 1, 2024 · Benefactor Benefactor Posted September 1, 2024 (edited) I can't comment on whether it's authentic or not, but it looks like perhaps it's supposed to be Hapi? See this amulet of mine: Egypt, Late Dynastic Period (1085-332 BCE), green faience amulet of baboon [with man's body?], leaning on pillar, representing Hapi son of Horus[?], sacred to Thoth (god of wisdom, writing, hieroglyphs, science, magic, art, judgment, and the dead) . 1 3/8" high. Purchased from Royal Athena Galleries, New York City, Mar. 29, 1986. Edited September 1, 2024 by DonnaML 2 Quote

Didier Attaix Posted September 2, 2024 · Supporter Posted September 2, 2024 Hi, I do not see any reason to suspect that this amulet is a fake. In my candid opinion this is a Thoth, see above and attachment https://www.ebay.fr/itm/126647269232?itmmeta=01J6SVJNMA0AASQZNQ5CTZ277E&hash=item1d7cc3f770:g:Zl4AAOSwxnllzjRm , which I am currently reselling on eBay. antwerpen2306 Posted September 2, 2024 · Member Posted September 2, 2024 I also think it is Thoth, but I am happy with a Hapi 😀 Quote
Didier Attaix Posted September 8, 2024 · Supporter Posted September 8, 2024 Hi Donna, The amulet you bought from Royal Athena galleries is not a baboon, but a cercopithecus monkey, see attachment below: Best, Didier 1 Quote
