I have this curiosity. Antioch. But who is depicted on the reverse? He looks a bit like Julius Caesar, Trajan and Hadrian put together. On the reverse of the SC, there is an "O" underneath in the wreath. (I suspect some kind of imitation??) Has anyone encountered something like this? Weight 9,8 g., AE 25 mm.

Thank You for help,

Greetings,

Robert

I can see the resemblance with Julius Caesar but this reverse does not exist for him.

The coin must be Trajan.

Interesting fact is that your coin's size and weight are exactly between those.

There is no O in the list of letters under SC so I think that is a Θ.

The style is very crude for Antioch - one of the provicial mints where the artistry on the portraits was very similar to Rome. But I have never seen a barbarous imitation for Antioch. I suspect it's an official coin but the engraver had a monstruous party the night before he worked on the die.
