Coin drawing, now and then: A well-known didrachm from Campania

This is by far my most expensive coin, I bought it around 5 months ago. The type is very well-known, featuring the nymph Parthenope on the obverse and Achelous, a river god portraited as a man faced bull, on the reverse.

In 1718, a german numismatist published a book about recent discoveries in ancient numismatics. I was happy to find one of my coins in the plates, a didrachm:

And since I do a bit of drawing myself, here is my own drawing (I'm not really good at it 😂)

It might also be important to mention that the book I have is a reprint of the original.

Now feel free to post your coins that have been drawn by either you, or another artist!

Great drawings! @Leo, your renderings are especially impressive and do a wonderful job of conveying the coin design and style!

Here are some drawings I did for an informational table a while back.

Not so much of a drawing, but my attempt at making intaglios like they did back in the day.

This one went wobbly (can you guess who?)

I also tried making a facing bust of Medusa,

And a replication of a Soloi stater, the wax die on the right broke when I was taking an impression!

Great work, the Aoloi stater in particular! For the last roman, I'd guess Nerva because of the very pronounced nose 😁
