expat Posted November 14, 2023 · Supporter Author Posted November 14, 2023 (edited) Actually @Aether you are correct in a way. After seeing and reading that thread confirmed my impression that I had to have one, an order last week included one and I am happy to have it. Edited November 14, 2023 by expat 1 Quote
Roman Collector Posted November 14, 2023 · Patron Posted November 14, 2023 Great acquisition, @expat! I like the little owl with Minerva. Did you know the species is actually called the little owl? Here's my favorite little owl with Athena coin. Faustina II, AD 147-175. Roman provincial triassarion, 7.19 g, 21.7 mm, 7 h. Thrace, Pautalia, AD 161-175. Rev: ΟVΛΠΙΑC ΠΑV-ΤΑΛΙΑC, Athena seated, l., holding owl and spear; resting foot on footrest; leaning against seat, shield. Refs: RPC IV.1, 10035 (temporary), Ruzicka 108. Notes: Plate coin at RPC IV.1, 10035(3); Double die match to RPC IV.1, 10035(1) = Ruzicka 108(2) = Paris, Bibliothèque nationale de France 957 (ex 779). 8 Quote
David Atherton Posted November 14, 2023 · Member Posted November 14, 2023 I'll go against the grain and post a coin which should have an owl but does not! https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=158363 4 Quote
