* [Applicable to both Thessalian coins] CNG did not use the term “Double Victoriatus” in the Triton XV catalog, and apparently has not used it in general since at least 2006, because of the absence of evidence that that term, rather than simply "stater," was used contemporaneously in Thessaly.

**[Applicable to both Thessaly coins.] BCD = Basil [a/k/a Vassili] C. Demetriadi.

Tetradrachm minted in Ainos in Thrace.

Hermes on the obverse. Goat, Pan and magistrates name on the reverse.

This is a type I really wanted in my collection after first seeing one year's ago, took a while, but very happy with it.

It is generally considered that the obverse of this coin is an extremely modified portrait of Antiochos VII. The eagle on the reverse signifies that this coin is struck on the old ptolemaic standard, a standard which survived the collapse of Ptolemaic power in this region.

Great coins, but isn't the current letter I (Iota) rather than L (Lambda)? Apologies if I'm wrong.

Glad you noticed, I hadn´t. I think I will no longer put the lower case in brackets as in this case it does resemble a L, I think we carry on, do I next and skip L when we get to it. If anyone has other suggestions It would be good to hear them.
