Nice Caligula coins! He is  tough in general with Roman imperial issues, but especially his precious metal issues…not affordable, yikes! Here’s two i have:

Don't bid on this one:

The bidding is at 1100 euros, but it's a cast "Paduan" fake, a perfect match with mine posted above:

I have a Paduan:

Clearly a cast. It's also a match for CNG E-Auction 509, lot 793, which they identify as a Paduan type, "after Cavino," Johnson & Martini 1324-32.  I think at least a couple people have bought one of these as genuine... here are two "die" matches: one, and two.  Big bucks down the drain... it's definitely buyer beware with this type!

I notified the auction house on Monday, no response so far. Maybe they need to hear from a couple more people...

Congrats on the amazing type!

Even though I rarely go after Roman coins, this is one that I also dream of picking up some day.

Here are all the Caligula coins I currently own...

In terms of coins I never dreamed of getting but got, these two probably top the list. I never thought I'd get the first in such condition, and the second I didn't even have on my list because I thought I wouldn't stand a chance.

I can't do this with the three sisters, but I can with a small "damnatio memoriae" on this freshly preserved Caligula sestertius. The C for Caesar and C for Gaius in particular were erased... The marks on the face on the cheek are probably also from this. The marks on the cheek were re-patinated in modern times during restoration.
