Benefactor Simon Posted January 16, 2023 · Benefactor Benefactor Share Posted January 16, 2023 22.55mm and 5.9gm I think it is a very nice SBCV-842 but I am not certain because of mint mark? The wreath is very nice, I bought this for my exceptional collection, but it was not attributed. Can someone who is better with the time period let me know if I got it right? Thank You, 12 1
Severus Alexander Posted January 16, 2023 · Supporter Share Posted January 16, 2023 Fabulous example!! Yes, the mint is Cyzicus, so SB 842 is correct. I picked one of these up last year, in part because of the high grade: I like the silly portrait style on these, it looks like Heraclius is wearing goggles. The full follis in the same style includes the mint mark, making the attribution to Cyzicus clear:
seth77 Posted January 16, 2023 · Member Share Posted January 16, 2023 The die workers should've put a silly hat on the emperor's head like they did for Focas. 2
