AETHER Posted December 21, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 21, 2022 (edited) Thanks to Aaron Berk for the info on how to locate this fast and easy! To have the envelope was nice, to point it to Mehl's catalog is just wonderful. https://nnp.wustl.edu/library/auctionlots?AucCoId=5&AuctionId=512290 Lot 1654 And some die matches; http://numismatics.org/collection/1944.100.28676 http://numismatics.org/collection/1944.100.28677 http://numismatics.org/collection/1944.100.28646 http://numismatics.org/collection/1944.100.28658 Edited January 18 by AETHER 22 2

Nerosmyfavorite68 Posted December 22, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 22, 2022 That's pretty cool! It shows how much grading has changed.. about Fine. aF is pretty conservative.
AETHER Posted December 22, 2022 · Member Author Share Posted December 22, 2022 (edited) @Nerosmyfavorite68 "Fine" was actually Mehl's highest grade. He did not use aF or XF. I was wondering the same until I read more about him. I suppose "Fine" was a standard back then on ancients? Or maybe it was a Mehl thing. Edit: As Donna pointed out, there is a VF in the same posting. Strange because I read this somewhere the other day. He did use Very Fine, as is evident from the photo you posted of the relevant catalog page. 1
