Material: AE, 4.13g, 24.5mm
Literature: Hartill 14.4, reverse a
Identifying features:
a: The two middle lines in the Bei segment of the Bao, 貝, are free.
b: The upper stroke of the yuan is longer.
c :The middle strokes of the Kai touch the hole.
d :The head of the tong is narrow

York. Silver, 0.98g. Diademed head right, crescent ear, pellet lips, protruding chin and braided hair. Outline bird with three tail feathers right on cross pommée, annulet either side, quatrefoil of berries before, trefoils in lower angles (S 802). Found near Kirkburn, North Yorkshire.

Identifying features for the late type:
(a) The two middle lines in the bai of Bao are in contact with the vertical lines.
(b): The upper stroke of the yuan is long.
(c):The middle strokes of the Kai touch the hole.

For the rest of the word, e.g:. Islamic Persia, Egypt & Syria,  Indian Jitals, Post-Gupta coins, the holy Roman  German emperors: Ludwig IV, Konrad I, Heinrich I and Otto I  and in China the earlier Shu dynasty and the Min, Chu  and Southern Han Kingdoms. Of course there are many more coins:
