Kazuma78 Posted June 2, 2022 · Member Share Posted June 2, 2022 (edited) A friend of mine bought this coin back in 2019 and he showed it to me early in 2021 and I have loved the coin since then. After talking with him about it several times, he decided he could part with it, so it is now on its way to my collection. I am THRILLED to add it, as a shekel of Tyre has been on my list of types I want for a long time. Please feel free to post anything related! PHOENICIA. Tyre. 126/5 BC-AD 65/6. AncientJoe Posted June 2, 2022 · Member Share Posted June 2, 2022 I underbid this coin when it sold and I truly don't know why I didn't bid more but I'm very glad it's still "in the family". It's an incredibly appealing piece in every way!
NewStyleKing Posted June 2, 2022 · Member Share Posted June 2, 2022 These coins copying the Tyrian style, of Balas, Antiochos Vll and Demetrios ll were they for local use? Or were they produced and ended up as the temple tax for 2 people? Its not the coins for me its About the coins. A bit like the Egyptianizing bronzes of Ant lV. Examples can be beautiful, but for me its only skin deep! Still nice coins!
