Edessa Posted November 23, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted November 23, 2022 About 15 years ago I purchased two Himyarite Half-Units from Barry & Darling. One lot description included the statement "The red is contact contamination, probably from being stored in an iron container. Would be a very nice coin with a little cleaning." Several similar lots showed up on other auction venues about the same time, so it would appear that at least a half-dozen coins were found in this iron container. It has taken me 15 years to get around to doing the "little cleaning", but here is the result. I simply soaked the coins overnight in a Sodium Thiosulfate solution and then cleaned with a q-tip and toothpick.
