Roman Egypt, Alexandria. Otho. AD 69. AE Diobol (25mm, 8.57g, 12h). Dated RY 1 (Jan-Apr AD 69). Obv: MAPK OΘWN K[AI]Σ ΣEB AYT; Laureate Bust right. Rev: draped bust of Isis left, wearing solar head-dress; L-A (date) before. Ref: RPC I 5369; Emmett 190; Dattari (Savio) 334; SNG France 700. A few scratches in obverse field and several striking splits, otherwise about very fine, very rare. From the Richard Plant collection. Ex DNW Auction (9 Feb 2021), Lot 640.

I know it is worn and has a few anomolies, but there is something about that coin that makes me go back and enjoy it again and again.

I had been looking for a nice Otho portrait bronze for quite a while when this one popped up at a local coin show. Let's just say I would have more wealth if I had noticed it at the original DNW auction!

I love those pennies with the lighthouse on the reverse. Ever since I was a little kid I've wanted to live in a lighthouse and be a lighthouse keeper. 

If I didn't collect ancient Greek coins, I'd collect English for sure, there's just so much history and fascination attached to their coinage.
