I just saw this article from CNN and have not read it yet.

https://www.cnn.com/style/article/met-museum-artifacts-seized-new-york-looting/index.html

Edit:

I just finished reading the article, very short.  I would be interesting to know what exactly was seized.

Here's a little more information:

For those interested in more information on Douglas Latchford, here's a Wikipedia link:

Antiquities were very cheap 25 years ago, if you compare the prices, in spite of the laws. Beginning the years 90, it was the moment here to buy antiquities from Irak, I suppose it was the same all over the world, so a lot of objects in the collections, imo, are looted. the same happened with objects from all over the world.

I think that the situation has to be as it is now, with the ownership to the country where it was looted and the exhibition in the country where the object is now. I think I don't have to explain this

I haven't heard of Douglas Latchford until the articles about the Met appeared yesterday.

He was an important conduit for many looted artifacts for many big name museums.  Plenty of dirty linen to go around, for sure.

Wasn't there any vetting of these objects by these institutions?
