  2. Here are my specimens of the dude. Two needs cleaning, will happend someday. Still missing one from Rome. Antioch: Viminacium: Samosata:
  3. Heres my Septimius Severus from Emesa RIC 389, if im not wrong.
  4. My big London nose. Not in the best shape but still 🤩
  5. @Steppenfool Well...honestly dunno what to think. But the result is - if I questioned it - Ill pass
  6. @Steppenfool yes, I bought from this seller too, and have nothing but good experience. The discusion is not about the seller - FYI i wrote him short message, to inform what i noticed. The seller guarantee that coin is genuine.
  7. Hi All, Recently, this sestrertius of Maximinus Thrax, was offered at ebay auction. I have to say that big bronzes/ brass are not my best area, so i can not confidently say, only by photos, whether coin is genuine, or not. Аlthough it is quite worn, it has its beauty, but also areas that look strange. But the red flag, for me, was, when 30 min before auctions end, I noticed tiny "R", scratched at obverse, at 5 o clock. This is exactly what I would do, if a forgery/replica coin apear in my collection. Would like to know your thoughts about this coin.
  8. @Orange Julius Im not 100% sure, but the obverse of mine looks like die match of your Virtus
  9. Philip II provincial fake, i got screwed with while ago. Cheap. These specimens I consider dangerous. Not mine. Photos from different numis groups.
  10. Cleaning in progress. The coin was soaked in demineralized water, for more than a month, but it does not affected green incrustations. So i tried different aproach - since the green stuff was very hard, started with pressing it with unsharp metal object, working on very small area at time. The incrustations started to crack, and i managed to remove big part of them, but reached a point where i cant go any further. Although I used an unsharp tool, it can slip very easy, and to cause scratches. At that moment the coin looked way better, than at start, but still far from the condition i wanted to achieve. Search for a way to proceed lead me to citric acid. Like I said before - I was sure the coin is not a fouree. But I couldnt find a guide anywhere on exactly how to do it - no proportion of DW and citric acid. Many sourced simply say - citric acid will help on silver coin. So i took a shot - squized a lemon, and put the coin in the juice for 5 min. The check on the 5th min show little progress. I left the coin in again, and went to gym 😎 After hour and I half, I went back home, straight to check the coin, hoping that I will not find it all porous. On the contrary - found most of the green mineralization dissapeared, and the brown under it too. It still has some hard dark stuff, on some areas, but for now, im more than happy with the result, and will leave it like it is. If i have to do it again, I will probably skip the mechanical atempt of cleaning, and would go straight to citric acid, if im sure im dealing with high silver content coin.
  11. Well, judging from my pics it does looks bit questionable - fouree or silver. In hand, I would say it is solid silver, and I want to see it cleaned - hoping that underneath the green crystalisation will pop up an uncoroded surface. On the obverse, I managed to remove small green spots, same hard crystalisation type, and it went fine. Still looking for the best method - if possible would like to keep the tonning. How exactly to use EDTA - should it stay in for couple of minutes/hours, or just a drops on the area i want to soften?
  12. Hello All, any advice with cleaning this Antoninus Pius would be much apreciated! The green encrustations are very, very hard. The coin is curently soaked in deionised water, for more than a month, with almost no result on the green stuff.
  13. I do love the portrait of Victorinus on this coin. Reverse is not that bad too. My coin, but not my pic.
  14. @Steppenfool well seller acceps offers...make him one for 110 😄
  15. Hi All, the biggest in my drawer turns out to be this Otacilia Severa: Size sligthly over 24mm
  16. Heres my Trajan Decius Dacia reverse. Beside the flan crack, its very beautiful in hand.
  17. @Steppenfool Yes, I wrote him short message with links to this topic and the one from cointalk. Hope that it will go straight to the dealer black cabinet.
  18. My thougths on subject: For some time Im trying to find a descent example of Fausta, priced according my budget, for my one per ruler ( + wifes, sons, daughters, cousins, usurpers and other relatives) collection. Its not my top priority, but still I would like to have one. And finally, few days ago, I become very happy to see, that seller I bought from, listed that beauty. Immediately decided that it will be the goal for next week ( how cool is that feeling huh?). So I started to track how the price moves: I usually do not pre-bid, but as many, waiting untill the very last moment to hit. Next day, at work, I finaly decided - man, im gonna get that, no matter what! These were happy 10 minutes - imaginin how other members of my little Constantinian dinasty, will be together with their wife, mother, and the b**ch, because of who, Crispus got executed. But, sometimes, all good comes to an end. I remembered reading, in some forum, 2-3 years ago, about Helena and Fausta forgeries. Major discussion was about some veeery good made fakes, with Fausta obverse, and Helena (Securitas) reverses.... I checked the ofered coin one more time, and the entusiasm about gettin it disappeared in 2 seconds. All this made me do a little research - maybe they realy exist - some magical hybrid between Helena and Fausta? Fingers crossed... But no....unfortunately, after reading couple of other discusion, most of them came to conclusion, that the hybrid, is actually forgery. Such a disappointment. Couple of photos of others of the type: Well, I must admit, that Im not 100% sure its a forgery. Beside the lot of (fake?) desert patina, it is a pretty convincing piece. But the major rule I follow, when buying coins - If you doubt it - leave it. Maybe, thats the reason i do not own any Sponsians haha!
  19. I did not mention who the seller is, or the source, because I do not want to point the discussion in ebay direction. I bought from the seller before, with no issues. But there is something else in the coin, which makes it questionable.
  20. well, i do not own it. Acording to the seller its 20mm, 3,41gr
  21. Hi All, Recently bumped on this, lets say interesting example of Fausta. What do you think about it - real or fake?
  22. Ola Ladies and Gents, Since Im at the begining in my "1 per ruler" collection I keep all my little gems in 50mm carton flips, which is OK, for now. There are about 50 emperors and empresses so far, and Im starting to feel, that flips are not the best way to store them. Found this little box/cabinet, which looks better than flips. Is there anybody, who use it for his collection? Is it worth upgrading? Please, share your best way for storing small, and constantly growing collection!
  23. Love the Hercules reverses! Unfortunatelly, the only one I own, is this worn Claudius Gothicus. Obverse is not that bad.
  24. Thank you! I think it need slightly cleaning, especially on reverse, but since im not a specialist, i will leave it like it is.
