  1. Mine: Macedon, Under Roman Rule; First Meris; circa. 167-148 BC. AR Tetradrachm (31mm; 16.82 gm; 12h); Amphipolis mint. Obv: Diademed and draped bust of Artemis right, bow and quiver over shoulder, in the center of a Macedonian shield decorated with seven eight-pointed stars within double crescents, each separated by three pellets. Rev: ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝΩΝ ΠΡΩΤΗΣ above and below club; monogram above, two monograms below; all within oak wreath, thunderbolt to left. AMNG III, 40; SNG Copenhagen 1314; BMC Macedonia 8

  4. Hi Ken: I have the four volume set in excellent condition, but I have no idea of a fair price. Online research fails to show recent, or even not-so-recent, sales. Media mail would cost about USD 30 for US customers, but I have no idea about media mail acceptability/cost to Canada. Please reply to: akropolisz@aol.com, since I don't know how to earmark this chat so as to return to it. Since I am 91 years old, I am exploring also selling my BMC, RIC, AMNG, and SNG Copenhagen catalogs. Also, M.J. Price's "The Coinage in the name of Alexander the Great and Philip III Arrhidaeus ."
  5. Alexander III, the Great; 336-323 B.C. AR tetradrachm (27mm; 17.18 gm; 2h). Tarsos mint, dated year 23. Struck under Philip III Arrhidaios, circa 323-317 BC. Obv: Hd. of Herakles r. wearing lion’s skin headdress. Rev: ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ to r., ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ above. Zeus std. l. on throne with cascading locks of hair, holding eagle in r. hand, scepter in his l. To left, Nike flying r., holding wreath; “B” and caduceus below. Monogram below throne. Price 3050a.
  6. Ptolemy XII Neos Dionysos, father of Cleopatra VII. 80-51 BC. AR Tetradrachm (27mm; 12.57 gm; 12h). Alexandria mint. Dated RY 28 (54/3 BC). Obv: Diademed head of Ptolemy I right, wearing aegis. Rev: ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ, eagle standing left on thunderbolt, palm over right shoulder; LKH (date) above headdress of Isis to left, ΠA to right. Svoronos 1837; SNG Cop 395; BMC___.

Obv: Diademed head right, wearing aegis around neck, tiny Δ behind ear. Rev: BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΠTOΛEMAIOY, eagle standing left on thunderbolt; monogram to left. BMC 50; CPE 156b; Svoronos 203; SNG Copenhagen –. Flan flaw above Ptolemy's head. Scattered marks, a few very light cleaning scratches on obverse, light graffito on reverse. aEF for wear, with magnificent toning. Ex Edward Gans in the 1960s. Very rare early issue. Obv: Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves over visor and a spiral palmette on the bowl. REV: AΘE, owl standing right, head facing, split tail feathers; olive sprig and crescent to l.; all within incuse square. Starr Group IV.
