Greco-Baktrian Kingdom, Heliokles I Dikaios AR Tetradrachm. Circa 145-130 BC. Diademed and draped bust to right; all within bead-and-reel border / Zeus standing facing half-left, wearing himation, holding winged thunderbolt in right hand and lotus-tipped sceptre in left; monogram in left field, ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ to right, ΗΛΙΟΚΛΕΟΥΣ to left, ΔΙΚΑΙΟΥ in exergue. Bopearachchi 1U; Mitchiner 284o; SNG ANS 642-48; HGC 12, 169. 16.95g, 29mm, 12h. got this at a recent roma auction, i love how lustrous it is. the details are super fine too

won this at the latest Roma auction, was quite pleased with the reverse. always wanted a bactrian tetradrachm because their designs are so intricate. eventually i want the type where eucratides has a hat, but they're a bit pricey lol. 20220623_192654.mp4 Diademed, draped and cuirassed bust to right / The Dioskouroi on horses prancing to right, each holding spear and palm; BΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ above, ΕΥΚΡΑΤΙΔΟΥ below, monogram in lower right field. there isnt really anything to take, the coins dont have anything visible on them

i have some silver dirhams that i suspect have pvc residue on them. they're a bit sticky to the touch, but otherwise i can't see anything unusual about them. they were in pvc flips before, but i have removed them. is acetone good to use to remove the residue, and how long should i soak it?

yea, agreed. i'm not really good at reading arabic, so i dont understand that much. i do wish there were more iconography on islamic coins. i know early umayyad, ayyubid, artuqid, and seljuk coins have icons on them but it's not that common. this coin i got a while back is an umayyad pre reform coin, imitating the byzantine nummus Time of 'Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan AD 685-705. AH 65-86. Hims, Fals Æ 21 mm., 3,66 g.
