  1. Wow, super! The reverse on #10 is amazing!
  2. Interesting top 10! I found #2 intriguing. I searched a bit, did not find much, probably the best info -> https://nat.museum-digital.de/object/269950 The advice to married women: shut up (be quiet), stay home, do your work with diligence.
  3. https://www.ma-shops.de/loebbers/item.php?id=160629022 Not much I can help. I look occasionally at Talers in auctions and have never seen this type from Schlesien before. I thought the portraits were crude, almost tooled, but the coin from Dirk Loebbers has the same 'look'. It seems to be quite expensive, unless 1 year makes a huge difference
  4. The legend in Aramaic is much cooler than the one in Greek that I have. Photo courtesy of CNG.
  5. This reminded me of the movie "In Bruges" with Colin Farrell. Where is Bruges? Why would anybody want to go to Bruges?
  6. Annoying is when extra handling & credit card fees are added on top of a 20% BP. And worst, the shipping cost for lower value items. I recently paid 30 ΕΥΡΩ for shipping a little coin => equated to 10% of the hammer price. It's win big or stay out for me.
  7. Lydia, Nacrasa (Thanks @shanxi) Pseudo-autonomous issue. Late 2nd-early 3rd century A.D. 15 mm, 2.39g. Bare head of Herakles right; c/m: cult statue Artemis Ephesia facing within rectangular incuse / Serpent coiled to right around baetyl (egg?). Very rare.
  8. Great coin and sleuthing on your part. I had 31 coins on my wishlist for the first 2 days of Leu and managed to win just 2.
  9. I'm also vacationing at the beach. Just different continent.
  10. @ambr0zie very nice coin! I have a few silver variants of this reverse type, but no bronze. This coin arrived yesterday, brought by Mercury himself. Just 7 days from a click in an auction in Londinum to Okeanus Pacificus. Photo courtesy of Roma Numismatics. Sabina & Venus, denarius
  11. @Fortuna Redux Taras with the legs on the same side of the fin is awesome. It should be pretty hard to ride a dolphin like that... I do not have such a type in my collection. Excellent centering on the reverse!
  12. @kapphnwn Amazing strike and details! Here's a heavier standard, 7.8g. Murex, trident and hippocamp; no buyer's remorse on this one.

    River Gods

A pseudo-autonomos from Saitta. Mên Aziottenos, on crescent, with Phrygian cap and the river god Hermos. Ex Saitta collection And the big gun: Okeanos. Also featuring Traianus Hadrianus.
  14. I watched this coin in disbelief. It went for over 500 gbp including bp. Extremely finely tooled. Photo courtesy of Roma Numismatics.
  15. I don't recall any reference to coins other than sestertii in Asterix. If anybody knows one, please let me know the book. About my childhood heroes. I even planned un tour de France with a route that took me through l'Armorique
  16. @Hesiodis that your coin? Incredibly cool!
  17. I stopped waiting for my Agora coins. Forgot even if it's been 2 or 3 years. I guess I am the only one here who doesn't have a mail courier issue...
  18. @Alegandron @JeandAcre The song Amatevi is in Sicilian language. I speak 'standard' Italian that one hears on cable news. I started with the lyrics that I found online and used a dictionary of Sicilian and a couple of sites about grammar. Chiancinu l'occhi mei P'un s'asciucari Crying my eyes out until dry Amuri cca t'haju lassari M'accumpagnu p'a via Love (plural, like amores) that have to leave you (one/me), accompany me on the road Chi me suspiri U cielu supra a mia M'aiuta a chianciri With my sighs, the sky above helps me with crying Luci cu suli – ca luna A notti s'appoja Light with sun, that supports the moon at night Jornu chi fuji Day (daytime) that is running away Disiu ri paci Desire of peace scantu ri guerra Fear of war Ciatu – paroli Breathing - words L'acqua s'asciuca The water is drying u siccu si vagna The dry one is bathing (getting wet) - I guess the last 2 verses are telling about a change of order where dry becomes wet and vice versa
  19. Welcome! Orodes Numero Dos, ex Parthicus collection, CNG pic.
  20. Kol HaKavod, @DonnaML fantastic artifact collection!
  21. Gefeliciteerd x 2, @Limes no aureii in my hoard.
  22. Lesbos 412-378bc, Zeus Ammon. I paid dearly for the good strike and centering on the obverse. That was in 2019. It looks like a great deal now.
  23. Has anybody invited stevex6 yet? and TIF?
